Salt River Canyon

In a few weeks we plan to head north from Tucson area going up thru Salt River Canyon with the rolling condo.

We have driven it before but just wanted to ask if anyone knows of any particular issues that have come up. (Once we got nailed with a detour that was a construction rocky, bumpy, not make me happy road)!

Thanks.

Read the post regarding the road work that will be going on in the Oak Flats/ Devils Canyon area between Superior and Miami on highway 60. You could be faced with delays and other poor conditions due to that job. Taking 77 at oracle Jct. just out of Tucson all the way up to 70 will save you all that grief on 60 between Miami and Superior. That's why.
  • Thanks ----- sometimes there are things going on that don't show up on ADOT.

  • Your alternate choice is Highway 77 thru Winkelman and up the grade to El Capitan(a long hard pull around 8% if I remember) Down to Jct of 77 and U.S.70. Left on to 70 into Globe for 3-4 miles and right onto U.S.60 and Salt River Canyon.
  • Lauren,

We rode this route via motorcycle in April and the road was great. Unless they have started a new project since then you should be OK.
