San Blas bypass route

Any recent reports on the condition of this road ? We're not headed home yet, but will be working north in a couple of weeks. I just hate to climb that Tepic hill only to come down again. RYV
  • OK - thanks ! That sounds about par for that road, so will have to debate it with myself ! RYV
  • We drove from Lo De Marcos to San Blas in a pickup 2 weeks ago and the road was fine except for about 2 miles north of Zucualpan. Lots of big pot holes but not much traffic so going slow was OK. Some hoverhanging branches on the curves north of there. Probably not good for tall RV's. Don't know about conditions from San Blas to 15.
We will take the cuota through Tepic because of the overhead branches.

  • I had heard that the rains a while back had not done it any good, but may have to check it out for ourselves.
CR - I understand, but you can't fight Karma - or being in the wrong place at the wrong time ! RYV
  • We came down that way in November! The Road was in pretty good shape then, but this is 4 months later so it might have washed out and or grown over by now!

RyV: Even if we HAD been over that route recently we wouldn't dare recommend any route over another to you. :B
  • We always hated that hill too, until yesterday. Had a new fan clutch brought down in December. So far from Zihuatanejo, our highest temp has been 211. Climb that hill!!!
