Man, this is what I call "warm" :) ... In desert areas away from water it can be below freezing sometimes. Had to scrap the morning ice off the windshield in Catavina which is approximately halfway down. It's usually warmer on the water, on the same day, but not much.

I am no weatherman but we have been to Ensenada and found it cool. All down the west coast of US and Mexico you may find what they call the "marine layer" which is fog. This can run down the entire west coast so you can see lower temps on the coast but just a few miles inland the temps will be quite a bit higher. We were traveling the Baja a few years ago in May. The marine layer was working. In Bahia de Los Angeles it was over 100F degrees but on the Pacific it was 70F. We saw this all down the Baja and have seen it all over California. They call it May Gray or June Gloom or Fogust or Fogtober etc. Many of us also know that altitude can mean lower temps. Central Mexico can be cooler because it is over a mile high. We lived in Colorado and all we had to do was drive an hour to go up a few thousand feet to find a much cooler climate. Many factors affect weather. In drier climates such as deserts the temps will drop as soon as the Sun goes down but in more humid climates it can stay hot all night. Has anyone found the perfect climate? We are still looking.

Yeah, in summer it's cooler on Pacific and warmer further East, but this is in summer. In winter, after sunset it's warmer near water (doesn't matter Pacific or Cortez side), and cooler in desert. 100ft from water can make a difference. Very cold in desert in the night, in winter. In daytime it's just the opposite, warmer in desert and cooler near water, no matter what coast. In San Felipe should be weather similar to Bay de LA, i.e. not too warm in winter.

Perfect climate? There is no such thing. Places that are warm in winter, like Bahamas, are either hot or humid or rainy in summer (lots of bugs too). Switch between the continents if you can afford. Most people can't.

Does anyone know if the San Felipe Association of Retired Persons still exist? I emailed the address I found online and the email came back as bad. Would love to meet up with some members.

I can get in my car and 72 miles later see a thirty-degree rise in temperature where I am at the moment. I remember the winter of 94 and 95 when I drove from Tijuana to Mulegé with the heater on, back and forth 4 times in one month. About 12 years ago I remember stopping in Rancho Sta Inez at 2 PM in July and having tacos in 107F temperatures.

I finally found historical weather info for San Felipe. I opened the site to San Felipe and our Arizona home laying them side by side. What I found was an average 5 degree higher daytime temp and a 15 degree higher night time temp for San Felipe. The night time temp is significant as that is the difference of freezing and it just being cold. When you have a freeze or near freeze it takes most of the day to warm and once it does it is evening and all is lost in a few minutes.
