scenic byway 12 utah beautiful

Dh and I decided to do the route with TT. It was such a beautiful drive and Dh didn't have any problems at all with driving it. We are now in Torrey at a campground that has fantastic views.Capital Reef has very few trails and drives open becsuse of flooding. So if anyone has doubts about driving 12 with camper just saying very doable. Tara

  • Yes we could not do hole in rock ot burr road cause of all the excessive amounts of rain and the flooding. Anothet time :)
  • Yep, Hwy 12 is scenic indeed! Then decided to take a trip down Hole-in-the-Rock road. Oh, what an off-road experience that was! Thank God for 4W drive. Burr Trail road from Boulder down to Halls Crossing is really cool & scenic but not for towing.
  • Busskipper wr took 128 when we were in moab about 6 yrs ago. It is very beautiful drive, took us a while to get to Moab cause we were stopping all the time just to admire the scenery.

Another beautiful drive is hyw 24 thru Capital Reef to hyw 95 to Blanding Utah. The whole drive is amazing. Ibrjet u will love it!!!! And 2gypsies it has rained for the most part of our trip, but hey that is what rain gear is for. :) we have had a great time. On way home now just wish we had more time. Tara

When you get the rain or the snow it just highlights the Red Rocks -- Sometimes you will even be lucky enough to get the Rain soaked or White caped Rocks with the Blue sky. Just another reason to keep coming back.

Soooo much to seeee and so little time.

    BOL,

If you didn't catch 128 out of Moab it is one GREAT drive along the Colorado River, which is likely to e really flowing with all the rain.

  • Will be doing 12 next month from Torrey to Escalante and then to Cannonville. Can't wait.
  • ...and this positive report from one who doesn't like heights? :) Thanks for your take on Hwy 12, Tara and hope the rains didn't hamper your well-planned trip very much!
  • I second doing highway 12 in Utah, absolutely amazing scenes, thank goodness for lots of pull outs. We were in a 33 ft MH towing a little pickup, no trouble and I do all the driving as my DH has parkinsons and no longer drives. I am looking forward to doing it again and staying longer.
