Scenic Route Toledo Ohio to North End of Skyline Drive

DW and I will be making this trip in early May, looking for a scenic route. Time is not an issue, all suggestions would be most welcomed. We prefer public owned Forests and Parks. Will use apps All Stays and Ultimate Camp Grounds for camping and over nighting.

    The north end starts in Front Royal VA and ends near Waynesboro VA. This is near where the Blue Ridge Parkway north end starts.

    Route 250 will work. Very scenic, lots of mountains. The same goes for route 33. It could get you to roughly the same place from NW Ohio.

    I had forgotten about the Amish, that is going to make me look smart to my wife. We had discussed taking 250 then 50. Any thoughts or suggestions n that plan?
