- traviscExplorerI work in Bellevue area if you want to avoid seattle do south bound i5 to south bound I-405 to Bellevue and hit i90 east. Either route works pick what works for you.
- I lived in that area for many years before I retired.

Thanks
I-5 south then #2 to Monroe then 203 south.
What he said, he lives in that area of WA. - Work on SR203 has been completed!

No way. Stay out of Seattle. Do what Enblethen and I said. - jamesuExplorer

Best would be turn east from I-5 on US 2 in Everett. Then at Monroe turn south on SR 203 to Carnation. Worst part would be a couple high traffic miles entering Monroe. SR 203 is a good two lane highway. Not much for shoulders.
I agree with “enblethen”. I am an Everett native, and that’s the best route from Swinomish to Carnation.
With the above route here is an option in case southbound I-5 is backed up heading into Everett: go east on SR-530 at the Arlington exit, south on SR-9 through Lake Stevens/Frontier Village, and east on US-2 just north of Snohomish. Traffic in Snohomish County can be horrendous now so you always need alternatives. - CA_TravelerExplorer IIIThanks for the input.

- pauljExplorer IIWSDOT was fixing some washout damage on 203 north of Carnation this winter, but I think that work is done.
203 south from Monroe starts relatively straight and flat. Novelty to Stillwater it skirts a hill side, but doesn't have significant curves or grades.
All the routes directy from the west have to drop down to the river level, with names like Novelty Hill Rd and Tolt Hill Rd. 520 to Redmond and 202 to Fall City avoids those hills, but is a long way around. Google Maps with Terrain mode highlights these details. - Tom_BarbExplorer
