Seattle to Arizona in late October early November route?

What would be the worst or best route to take during that time frame?
I would like to avoid snow storms and bad roads.
We have two to three weeks available for the trip.

  • Same reply as always: "Depends".

I like the central Nevada route because there is very little traffic. Mostly 2 lane good surfaces, just a few climbs. But it depends on weather. That's not the place to be in snow -- way too desolate. Forecast is critical.

On the other hand, I wouldn't enjoy I-5 in snow either.
  • If you are willing to run I5 you can get to Redding in one long day. That's generally the start of really nice warm weather. After that, get to 395 until you get to I40 if it's OK out around Lake Tahoe.
