Seattle, WA on I90 towards Yellowstone

We're coming from Portland, OR up to Seattle, WA then on I90 towards Yellowstone.

We'll actually leave I90 going toward Island Park, ID I think on 287 to do some fishing.

We've never been on I90. This is also our first trip with our fiver so all the questions are pretty typical, hills, pull offs, gas, favorite attractions/points of interest, campgrounds? Concerns, Suggestions?

Thanks

The grades are avg for mountain passes. Nothing terribly steep or long.
Lake Easton (just over Snoqualmie pass) and Wanapum (in Vantage Wa.) state parks are very nice camp grounds along the way in Washington state. Both are great for a stop over or longer.

Thanks I'll look at the campground. The location around Vantage WA may work for us as a stop.
  • Unless there is some hard reason to go to Seattle, why not head east out of Portland? I84 to Boardman is a much nicer drive with WAY less traffic. You can pick up 395 north between Boardman and Pendelton. This way the roads are preffy flat clear to ID.
  • All interstates are drivable by any vehicle. You'll have no problem.

However, you're kind of late in the season to do this trip. Watch the weather for snow!
