But this is good IF you have clear weather forecast for most of the route.
If a big storm is going to be moving across, from the NW out to the plains, you're better off to head south on I 5 to I 10 and turn east. :)
I live south of Albuquerque and take this route to WA a couple times a year. Watch the weather reports and travel days, wet roads freeze at night.
