Size of Class C?

We are renting a Class C for the first time. Should we get the smaller or larger one? The larger one is 30 feet. We have 2 adults, a 14 yo and two 10yo.
  • Renting is always the best place to start.
Camp the first night in your driveway.
(Those are the standard answers for those unfamiliar.)

As you are not already RV people, take the time to go and look at both. Yes, smaller is easier to handle (says the guy that now has a 23'A), and even a few feet can make a difference. But, if you can't sit down in it with the kids (you have to bring them on this mission) and imagine being stuck in it for a whole day (weather can do that) and surviving, get larger.

If you don't do this, you may be scared off the best mode of excursion travel available.

If you are going to go traveling, things are a little (but not much) than if you are going to a cramp ground.

    Matt - (my "14yo" now has a 12yo)
  • The actual sleeping accommodations present probably should decide this.
And the extra length may mean nothing but one larger bed.

IMHO, unless there are slides present, most Cs feel roomy with only one or two people but adding 3 more people make them feel more like a sardine can.

Hope your trip will be spent mostly with at least 4 of the 5 OUTSIDE all or most of the time.
  • For 5 people I would recommend large (27-30 foot) for the 5 of you for comfort. However, if you have not driven an RV or a large vehicle before a medium (23-26 foot) would be better for safety, IMO.
