Advice welcome on smoothest right lane road surface from Portland OR to Dallas TX. Going the opposite direction on I-40 through NM and AZ was like riding in a paint shaker at the hardware store. Parts...

Youn would use interstates in some places.
US 26, US 93, US 50, US 64, and US 287 would be some of the federal highways.
There is benefits to using some as speeds are slower saving fuel.
