We've been up in 06, 07, 09, 11, and 13 and have NEVER had major problems. When fishing on the rivers, and walking through deep woods there are definitely a lot of mosquitoes, but out in the open, or in a slight breeze and they are just about gone. Same with the NO-SEE-UMS. We keep repellant available and also head nets available. Never had to use the nets and only had to use the spray 2-3 time the whole summer. This only applies south of the Brooks Range. When we were north of there (Prudhoe) in 2011 it was still early in the season. Mid June, but I understand it gets bad up there later in the summer.
