South Tahoe to Yosemite Pines

I am staying at Zephyr Cove in Tahoe. What is best way, in a 44ft 5th wheel, to get to Yosemite pines in Groveland. Thanks in advance.
  • I would take highway 50 out of Lake Tahoe towards Sacromento, and then take highway 99 south towards Merced.

The only way I have ever been into Yosemite is highway 41, from the south entrance. If you have reservations for the valley, and you need to be there, there are two ways to get there. From Merced or Fresno Via highway 41. I have not been the Merced way.

The roads around the valley are not very accommodating for a 35' long fifth wheel - so good luck with yours. If it where me, I would opt to stay at the wonderful SKP resort in Oakhust CA, and then drive the truck into the valley.

    Escapees.com

The membership for SKP's is very reasonable, and they offer great rates, with typical 40' wide and 50 - 75' long sites. You can buy a site, but it is not a requirement to rent one. . . Oakhurst has a waiting list, it is a really nice park. It is about 45 miles north to Yosemite Valley or 45 miles south to get to Fresno. If coming from Sacramento, then stop at Madera, and fill with gas, before heading into the mountains, where gas is much more expensive.

    Good luck with your trip.
