"...It is up to each park to apply the interpretation of their rules fairly and accommodate campers's needs where possible and within limits of common sense. ..."
We had an interesting discussion about this July fourth weekend at an Iowa state park.
Family was camped at a single site, two adults one infant in a TT
Wife and I in a pop up truck camper.
Campground sold out/full up.
Rules stated two vehicles, one camper plus one tent , six person max.
Ranger says truck camper violates rule of one camper per site .
We say fine,we can shut pop up and stay with family. Nope, says ranger, still two campers.
Fine we say we will park truck in overflow and stay with family. Nope says ranger,no campers in overflow parking.
That's crazy we say there has to be a solution . Ranger says I will ok you staying in truck unless I get a complaint .
Nice guy, very polite, no complaints from anyone. Apparently just wanted us to know the rules and that he was watching everything /body.
Worked great had to be quietest campground with the most considerate campers we ever stayed at and it was absolutely at capacity- even the tent area.
