Some cultures have large families. They include, grandparents, in-laws, etc. It's a good thing that other cultures don't stick their elderly in nursing homes, and choose to include and value them. It's not exactly fair to make them adhere to Western standards of what constitutes a 'proper' family. We often camp with Amish/Mennonites. Very large families, but respectful and quiet. I'd rather be next to a large family group, then 4 disrespectful jerks.
I agree but the reasons behind the rule is basically "wear & tear" on the site. I have seen the results of a large number of people overloading a site. It is not pretty and takes years for the site to recover from just a week of overuse.
This is part of the response from park management: "Our maximum persons per campsite rule is incredibly important. Ontario Parks' primary mandate is to preserve the environment, while offering world class, sustainable recreational opportunities. The six person limit is meant to help maintain the quality of the natural spaces in which recreational activities are pursed and enjoyed so that future generations can also enjoy our beautiful provincial parks."
