Really don't know why you would want to know that, but for argument sake lets just say Des Moines to Memphis.
If you want good advice, it helps to know where you're going especially with road construction and the like this time of year.
But I will simply answer your question, yes, there is a better way than 141, more specifically I-270 would be a much better route IMHO (after driving it daily for years).
