- MARKW8ExplorerWe stayed in Eagle River at I think, a municiple campground. IIRC, 15-20 minutes fron Ank. Just get there b4 friday.
Mark - johnwalkerpa1ExplorerIronically enough, despite being the largest populated area in Alaska, Anchorage seemed to be one of the hardest places to find a nice place to stay.
Do you need/want to actually stay in Anchorage? If you don't mind being out a ways, north toward Palmer or Wasilla give you many better choices, IMHO. - jessjerr1831ExplorerBelieve we stayed at the Golden Nugget also. I was surprised when I found out their store did not open till 10:00 am and they also did not sell ice?? Only place ever had both happen to us. The other thing we remember is the earthquake that started rattling the TT one day. July of 2010.
- JaBobExplorerJust returned from a trip thru Alaska (not in our RV) and would say we saw numerous RV parks, none of which would compare well with what you see in the lower states.
Bob - Terry_25ExplorerWe wanted to be near downtown so Ship Creek suited us fine.
- DesertHawkExplorerWe stayed with our son & his family at the Elmendorf AFB Famcamp, it was very nice. Electric & Water & Restrooms/ShowerHouses. Must be: Active, National Guard, Reservists, Retired, 100% DAV, DoD Civilians, NAF civilians. Guests of sponsors to use. Also Full Hookups
- answerswillvaryExplorerMoved to RVing in Alaska
- lanerdExplorer IIWe stayed at the Golden Nugget. It's centrally located and right across the street from Costco. Downtown is only a few minutes away. While it's no resort, I think it's the best thing going in Anchorage.
Hope this helps
Ron - crabbin_cabinExplorer IIThere is a Forum for these questions - RVing in Alaska!
- RoyFExplorerWe stayed last year at the city-operated campground on the north end of Anchorage -- I'll have to check my Woodall's to get the name. Plenty of trees and you're not jammed too closely together. No hookups.
