Suggestions

Looking for suggestions on places to see and visit between now and June 17th. We are currently in Fernley, NV and have reservations at St Mary's Campground at Glacier National park 17-26 June. We also have another reservation for St Mary's in July just in case the Going to the Sun Road doesn't open up while we are there in June. We have just been at Bryce & Zion and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in the last couple months. We have been to Yellowstone twice before for 3 weeks each. We have yet to visit Grand Tetons Natl Park so will like to stop there for at least one week.

We like to hike and bike. Just day hikes typically and day rides. Not really into a lot of touristy shopping types of things because we really don't want to buy any more "stuff" to bring into the motorhome.

My two favorite hikes in Glacier NP are Ice burg Lake, and hike right outside Two Medicine CG. My favorite bike ride is a 17 mile downhill into Rocky Mtn NP campground from the highest paved road in Colorado.

What a great Problem to have!

Let me just throw out a few names that you can put in a mapping program and possible take in on the way to Glacier NP.

    Goblins SP in Utah
Salt Lake City and the Great Salt Lake – love the City and there is a lot to see and do in the area.
Park City – Jordanelle Resevoir CG
Outside Ogden, Ut – Pineview Resevoir and Snowbasin Ski Resort – beautiful area we have spent a few days winter days there.
    Bear Lake
    Dinosaur NM
    Flaming Gorge NRA
The drive between Shoshoni and Thermopolis – Wind River Canyon is one of those drives that I always just LOVE.
    Cody
    Red Lodge
    Jackson and Grand Tetons
Chief Joesph and the Beartooth Highway -- both are great drives but the neat thing is you can see the Beartooth from CJ on one of the overlooks.

Not everything but more than most could do in a month.

Hope this is of some help.

    BOL,
  • Take US95 north to Boise and into the Idaho mountains. There's a scenic arc from McCall in the west to Salmon in the east. From Salmon you can take US93 north to Missoula and Glacier. Or SW to Idaho Falls and Tetons.

Eastern Oregon would also be on your way. NV140, OR205 takes you to Steens Mtn. Branching off of US95 north of Jordan Valley is gravel roads to Succor Creek, and Leslie Gulch, both with fascinating rock formations. And further north on both sides of the state border is Hells Canyon and mountains (Blues in Oregon).
  • Plenty of great hiking areas in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Not too far from Fernley
  • If you like to hike the Tetons and Glacier are the places to go. Be sure to take a camera and water bottles and good boots and hiking sticks.
