Four weeks is what I am able to take off of work, and I intend to come back in following years to focus more on what we liked on this first trip.
So true. You just do what you can with the time you have to do it. We thought nothing of taking our 2-week vacations from Michigan to the western states. We didn't see it all in one trip but we kept going back for more.
One thing we did do was to pick one area and stick to that rather than trying to cover huge areas in multiple states.
