I have rigged up a couple of these to plug into any location I am about to plug my RV into before I plug in . . .

This tells me immediately what the voltage and polarity of any connection might be and I then monitor inside the RV. I also have a surge protector and a voltage regulator I use in both Mexico and the US. Every little bit helps.
