TC Hwy 1 at Banff ( delays)
We have been driving back and forth from Calgary the last few weeks helping move our kids back to BC.
There has been paving going on at Banff with short delays ( 30 to 45 minutes)over the last few weeks up until today. In saying that the traffic was always flowing slowly, and only came to a stand still to allow other people to merge into one lane traffic.
The east lanes going to Calgary from Sun Shine Village way, is all paved, only had to slow down to 70km as crews were reinstalling gaurd rails.
However the west lane going towards BC / Lake Luoise from Banff was backed up for a good 8 miles today. The line up was finished and people were back up to Hwy speed of 90kmh just at the Bow Valley Parkway over pass ( Hwy 1-A) and they were starting to back up at Banff Ave, and we came though at about noon today which is a Monday.
With the holidays weekend coming up that stretch of road is going to be a bottle neck.
I did look up on the Alberta Hwy report and they say the paving will stop at 7 pm Thursday night and I believe start again Monday morning as Friday is the stat ( CANADA DAY)
So if anyone you like to drink a few cups of coffee in the morning while traveling .....Or the odd bottle of water...
This is your heads up! ( grin)
Soup.
