Tectonic plate movement, a new volcano Maybe???

When did the pacific plate overtake the caribian plate?
That I do not know but from what has been happening arround the world, there are fauts and subduction zones that have increased activity in the last 2 years, strong teluric movements in areas that have been relativlly quiet, volcanos erupting or becoming more active EG. New Zeland, and the vocano in the South Eastern corner of the Mexico City valley that threw lava all the way to Tlamacas a fairly good distance, the Popocatepetl volcano known to Mexicans as "Don Goyo" has been "smoking" venting steam way before the Aztecs entered the valley and founded Tenochtitlan, the Spanish climbed the valcano to get sulphure for the manufacture of gun powder, now it is ash, gases, steam and lava, the last strong quake 7.2 was very close to the volcano as opposed to the other one that came from the coast subduction area, I hope that plates settle down, earthquakes tend do damage in areas that the population does not have the knowledge to construct quake proof or live in areas that were constructed a long time ago and colapse on them, I hope for the best.

….we are in Florida (east Coast) and been following the worrying quantity of quakes around the Caribbean "plate" this winter.

*when was the last time that Pacific subduction zone 4.5+ quakes all the way from northern Mexico to Colombia were overtaken by Caribbean plate quakes ?????

Don Goyo (AKA) Popocatepetl the volcano on the South-East corner of Mexico City erupted last night with steam, ash and lava, the area in Michoacan seems to be settling down, maybe the calm before the storm?

I have been checking on a day by day on the teluric movements in Parangaricutiro and they are in an extremlly consentrated area with a depth that varies from 25 km to one kilometer and from 3.0 to about 4.2 on the sesmic scale, time will tell if a volcano is born or there are new hot springs and new tourist balñearios (SPA) to visit and enjoy, new hot RV winter destinatios?

The quakes have continued in a very localized area and the movement intensity has been steady between 3.o and 4.9 in the scale, maybe the magma is getting comfy in the ruptures, we will keep monitoring.

The Owens Valley/Mammoth area is to far away to be of any consequence to the tectonic plate movement in Mexico, unless the San Andreas fault decides to move North a bit, then you can worry about that area, mean time we will see if Mexico gets a new volcano.

You can turn on a quake monitor on the Weather Channel app under the radar screen. It tells the amplitude, how long ago and the nearest town all on a map.

We have visited Paricutin when we were staying in Ururapan.

Amazing to see what a "brand new" volcano/lava flow looks like.
