TELCEL Banda Ancha

We purchased 3GB for 399 pesos in SMA and WiFi was working fine. Moved yesterday to Valle de Juarez in Jalisco and cannot connect to WiFi. Message say DNS server does not exist. Amy ideas anyone? I am not out of data as just purchased it yesterday before we left SMA.
  • The last two years there have been problems in Valle with the tower that is in town. We went several times and I think it is not directed correctly or is positioned to service the town more than the surrounding areas. We had good luck with our Movistar stick. That's why I think it is wise to have both Telcel and Movistar.
  • our reception is not great either ! We get good service and can send and receive e mails and even surf the net as I'm doing now . but when it comes to the telephony part it really sucks!
    Skype ...Nope
    Magic Jack ...Sometimes!
    FaceTime ..Nope
    G Talk....Nada
    Talkatone ...Zip!
Now if We useVoice Only It does work better but still not perfect!
  • Finally getting online with my stick...although very slow. Went to town today and tried my PC in there but it was no better.

  • I have discovered why Magic Jack or any other VOIP does not work well on Telcel. Or at least at my location. The download speed is excellent . About 3GB. BUT the upload is less than a dial up So I can hear the other person clear as a bell. But they get mostly echoes!

  • It says I am connected but won't bring up any pages. Maybe I will go into town today and try it in there. Worked great in SMA
  • Brian is correct, nothing wrong with stick. Just in a weak signal area. Using a long USB extension works good. I move it around my RV to get best signal. However when you get that message you could still have a good signal but it either is not working on tower now, try later, I get that message once in a while and I always have 5 bars,
  • Hi Jerry,

We had problems connecting to Telcel at HC VdJ - very intermittent. I used a USB extension to put my stick outside up in the air and still had problems. The signal there is very weak. I could see towers but they may not be internet towers. Some times of day it worked ok and other times we got nada. I have two PVC pipes 7'6" long and put the stick in a plastic bottle tied to the top of the connected pipes - so about 15' up and over the roof top - and still don't get great reception up there. But it will work at times. You just have to be patient.
  • Type of device and CEL company would help. DNS is what translates Internet addresses so Telcel or other have them

Has it ever worked, etc, etc
