You can now get Telcel sim cards on line via amazon. You do need to have an unlocked cell. You can renew the plan at Telcel stores in mexico. This one comes with 5 gig of data an dis good for 33 days....

Thanks Paul. That can be a great convenience! (It does seem a bit expensive though).
As for non-spanish speakers, I've found that many small Telcell vendor shops have someone that can speak English.
