Tepic and Xalapa used to be the two places in the entire country with the best drinking water.
I wonder how the restaurant at Hotel Bugamvillas is these days. 23-years ago I had one of the finest luxury meals I have ever eaten at this restaurant. Quail in Orange Sauce. Sweet & Sour orange soaked in Tequila. The setting is ethereal on the side of am arroyo with a huge oak tree shading it. Covered pedestrian bridge, paving tile courtyard. Had banana bushes climbing the walls with purple finger bananas. The rooms were every bit as nice as some of the 5-star Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta rooms. Cheating Mexico City movie and TV stars came here to tryst. This is where I saw today's Mexico's First Lady and friends dining at a table next to mine. The name "La Duena" kept popping up -- a Novela for 1995.
But a lot can happen in a near quarter-century
The suites are on the hill separate just south of the complex. My god, Angelica Rivera in her prime....two zeppelins in a dead heat.
