- brireneExplorerI don't remember the name but maybe someone else knows it. A place kind of up in the hills, I think it was to the east of SA. A little ways out. DW's cousin took us there while visiting. It was good stuff!
- The_TexanExplorerSorry, San Antonio was and still is my stomping grounds and there is NOT a good true Texas BBQ in the town. We personally will drive to Luling to eat at Center Market or go to Lockhart to eat at one of about 2 or 3 in town that qualify as good. There is another good place in Victoria, but that is not anywhere near San Antonio.
We love Rudy's BBQ sause and buy it by the 12 qt case when we are in town, but their BBQ is just mediocre at best. - Jay_PatExplorerLook for a Rudy's BBQ.
You are in San Antonio!!! Probably any place will do nicely!
Pat - BB_TXNomadThis month's Texas Highways magazine has a special food article listing the top 5 eating places for BBQ, Tex Mex, burgers, chicken fried steak, etc in Texas as voted by readers. Black's Barbecue in Lockhart was rated #1 for BBQ. City Market in nearby Luling was 3rd. Have not been to either so can't comment. Cooper's (noted above) was #2 but a long way from San Antonio.

- Dennis_M_MExplorerHead an hour up the road to Lockhart, some of the best barbecue anywhere:
Blacks BBQ
Smitty's Market
Kreuz Market
If I could only do one it would be Blacks.
