This is a really hard question to answer because of the Alaska Cruise being right in the middle. Your Coos Bay to Vancouver leg just plain sucks. You'll miss a lot of what the PNW is and all the historic sights as well.
On the return why don't you see the upper half of The Provence's. Drop down to Lake Superior and see a very special place, Isle Royale, it is a fascinating National Park. There is Voyagers before dropping down to I.R. There is so much to see and do up there.
Also the PNW should be driven from North to South, California should include all the Redwoods, Ferndale, Shasta Dam and Mountain, Mt. Lassen, Lake Tahoe, Bristle cone Forrest, Death Valley ...
You could spend your whole 2020 vacation doing the Southern NPs and the PNW.
Just my opinion.
I believe the Alaska cruise will feel like a recovery time. Maybe I'm wrong. It's a change of pace and style of travel. I think we'll be refreshed when we return.
Please help me with the PNW sights. I know nothing. What you see on the current map has NO research behind it.
Honestly, we did the UP of Michigan last summer and were not impressed enough to return. We didn't make Isle Royale (the expense) or Voyagers.
Maybe we take out everything in California and save for another year? As I said earlier, that won't save much on miles, but it would free up a week of time. The chances of us doing California in the future are higher than getting into BC again.
