The Reef in Puerto Penasco

Drove through the park yesterday. You can shoot a cannon and never hit anyone. Counted a total of 37 rigs and 3 of those were weekenders brought out of storage. Maybe 7 rigs on the beach front.
  • Here right now and it is BUSY! Posting from the Wrecked. Wifi section 1 broken, water on and off due to emergency repairs, but they did notify with notes.
37 rigs to show up Monday ....no beach front left tomorrow.

    Oh yeah, weather if perfect.
  • We just spent three months at The Reef. During our stay, dozens of people driving through stopped to ask what sites cost there. They were mostly folks staying at Playa Bonita or Playa del Oro, looking for something less crowded.

The Reef is 3-4 miles from downtown, so it's not for those who want to hit the bars at night, but for those of us who want a quiet beach, huge sites, good 50 amp power, usable Wi-Fi, and only a few neighbors, it's as good as it gets.

If Spring Break weren't about to start, we would still be there. It's a zoo during that time.
  • The Reef is a great spot. Not many parks in Mexico with huge waterfront sites. Nice restaurants on site. Quiet at night,. I wouldn't want to stay there for extended periods but for a weekend or a week or 2 it is superb! Good water pressure. Weird electrical but it is 50 amp. If the park is not crowded the WiFi is good.
  • We have a Caravan coming Monday so don't load the cannon yet......The Reef has not advertised for new business for years so it is not unusual to be fairly empty. I talked to the owner last night and things are moving forward on the Port deal but he assured mt the park will be open for the foreseeable future (subject to change)Its a great park for larger rigs and for seclusion - we use it occasionally with our trailer to get away from work, we only live 10 minutes away but it is a different world out there, we love it.
