Timing through Yellowstone?

At the end of June we will be heading home to Ohio from our vacation after visiting Yellowstone. From West Yellowstone MT to Cheyenne WY we will be traveling from one corner to the other. The less mileage option takes us on RT 191 to 26/287 to I80.

How is this route? From what I see it looks good road wise for our diesel pusher but how about diesel fuel options, good campgrounds, good places to stop and eat?

Thanks!! :)

We would LOVE to do that but at that point we will have already stopped in SD for a few days to see Mt Rushmore then to West Glacier MT for some more time then down to Yellowstone. At that point we would be gone at least 2 1/2 weeks and need to get home! :(

Cut your part of the Rushmore trip down to one day, and add a day in Jackson/Tetons. In my mind, that would be a better trade off.

We leave for the Teton's / Yellowstone this afternoon. :)

  • I would stop at Colter Bay for a few nights and see the Tetons, and Jackson, then out through Moran to Rawlins to Cheyenne. Just stayed at AB rv in Cheyenne and it was pretty good.
