I would recommend I-5 directly to 101. You will have some traffic in Olympia, but not enough to take the extra miles on 12/8/108. The extra miles would not be worth it to me.
Avoid Tacoma on a Saturday. I-5 through Tacoma is not something I would do on a Saturday if I had a shorter option.
Also 101 will be more scenic along Hood Canal.
Roads should be fine. No current travel alerts for 101.
