Hi Tony,
Cost for parts starting from scratch for a viable system to run a residential fridge. Assumption fridge uses 100 amp-hours per day.
$355.00 2k Xantrex pure sine wave inverter
$504.00 800 watts of panels @ $0.63 cents per watt (harvest 270 amp-hours per day based on five solar hours)
$560.00 six golf cart batteries @ $90 each 696 amp hours
$600.00 Tristar MPPT 60 amp controller
$300.00 wire, mounts and hardware
$2319.00 For parts.
Costs may be less, as I expect any serious boondocker would have 464 amp-hours of battery bank already.
