We had a lot of confusion about insurance for quite awhile. First we had GMAC which did not insure us for comp in MX - so we got Progressive because they said yes they insure the vehicle in MX. But we were talking about the motorhome and just ASSUMED this also applied to the car - and off we went - also buying the liability on the Bus assuming the car was covered there too. WRONG. Next we knew we had to buy liability on both but had not yet learned that our Progressive did not cover the car in MX. Eventually we were made aware that we also needed to buy extra comp in MX for the car. So it could depend on what insurance you have in the US and what it covers. No US insurance covers liability in MX but some do provide comp - but who covers what I still do not know. We have Progressive on the Bus but still have not found a US company that offers comp in MX for the car. Asking the insurers lots of questions could get the answers you seek.
