On I-80 just one booth, collecting for a short piece of the TriState Tollway. At most, $3, depending how the toll collector categorizes you.
If westbound, I-80 is the best way through the area, bypassing Chicago on the south. Of the alternative Interstates, you will end up on more toll road somewhere, I-94 will take you into and through the citybefore going west again.
Of the US numbered highways, anything north of US-24 is stop and go through miles and miles of suburbs in Illinois, old industrial cities in northern Indiana.
