I have a much different view than those above. Take the I80/I94 west out of Chicago to Indiana 49. This is only 1 exit East. Go South on 49 to Rt. 30. You will have a 4 lane, No toll route all the way into Eastern Ohio. There are routes East after this point that you need to reseach.
The only area that is slow will be the 5 miles at Warsaw, Indiana. This is not bad driving. The route around Ft. Wayne is higher traffic, but watch the time of day to avoid the rush.
I have driven this route many times in truck, rv, and passenger car. You will save around $80 and have excellent roads. Look at the map, research this route on this site for further comments.
