Please tell me it isn't true... coming from MO to TX on 44 and I hear it's gonna cost me 40 + $ in tolls. True? Options for getting around if so?

Toll for 4 axles paying cash = $32.75. It looks like OK has turned every interstate highway into a turnpike thus the only way around the tolls is to route yourself on US highways. See https://www.pikepass.com/toll/AllTollRates.aspx
