Tolls NY Metro Insane

I live on eastern long island ny, and my rv'ing frequently takes me out of the ny metro area. It has gotten to the point of insanity with these crazy toll increases. I have a dually which is also my occasional driver, which I drove to south jersey a month ago. I checked my ez pas statement yesterday, and the toll crossing the bridge into staten island is $26.00, with no trailer, off peak, with ez pass discount!!!! Apparently the port authority of ny nj, counts tires, not gvw!! The kick in the ass is, if I was driving a 350 with single rears the toll is $9.00!!! I'm sorry a pickup is a pickup, regardless of tire count. I can't wait to get out of here!!

Thanks. I feel better now, just needed to vent.
  • WOW now that is a toll! Grab your camper and as the ads in the 60's used to say: "Come on down." (Florida)
  • Isn't the toll on the Verazzano higher than the other methods of exiting Long Island
  • If I ever need a 1 ton, I would get a SRW and put 19.5" LR G or LR H on it. That would put me close to what a DRW would have for capacity. As long as all other parts are the same between the SRW and DRW.

Just with my setup below, I have been bent over with tolls on the 95 corridor. NEVER AGAIN!!! if I can avoid it.
  • I don't think there are many of us on this forum from Long Island, So probably won't get many replys. But I feel your pain. I try to limit my trips to upstate, so as to avoid GWB. Between our school taxes and tolls, I also can't wait to get out, just have to convince the DW.
