There is lots to see here. We have the oldest English colony in Canada. A Viking settlement that close to 1000yrs old. Lots of little Mom&Pop stores on Water Street in St. John's.
We have scenery around every turn. At this time of year there are icebergs and whales in the water around the island. Pick up a map at a tourist kiosk. The have the scenic roads listed on them. Around te Avalon there is the Bacalieu (back-a-loo) trail.
There is Cape St. Mary's seabird ecological reserve, Signal Hill in St. John's, where the first trans-Atlantic wireless signal was received. Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America.
