  • I would avoid Dallas if possible by using I-69/US-59 or leaving I-45 at Fairfield and going up through Athens. Google Maps says that route takes 6 minutes longer, which the Dallas route could easily use up with one traffic problem there. As others have mentioned, the stress will be a lot less. I have started literally going out of my way to avoid big cities while towing a trailer. I find big city car & truck drivers are not very considerate of RV's, often to the point of being dangerous. Check out the alternates on Google Maps.
  • If you hit Dallas mid day, then I-45 to US 75 thru Dallas is typically fine. I live north of Dallas and travel that route often. Rarely a problem mid day weekdays, mornings on Saturday, or most any time on Sunday.
  • No answer for you but I bet if you put the start/dest in your title, you'd get a lot better response.
  • We have used I-69 to US59 through Lufkin, then US259. Go west on I-20 to exit 571A - US271 North to I540 at Fort Smith. Will take longer but lots less stress.
