Going to travel around lake michigan class A 37 ft with 12 ft trailer with motor cycle. Coming up thru Ohio. Looking for best rye and scenic rides.

US RT 2 thru the Upper Peninsula is a must.

I don't even know where to start.... We have done this both in a pass with kids and in our small vintage coach. There are so many places to see that I would have to sort them by type. What sort of things interest you most? We can start there. I was going to start a list of places I would like to get back to and see again. Other question, do you need an FHU camp or can you dry camp? One motorcycle on the trailer? (You did not use plural.) So, I am guessing it is a road cruiser. That is OK too, but we used to tow trail bikes so pavement was just an inconvenience.Matt

Two of our grandkids traveled with us for their summer vacations for 10 years. We flew them to us and flew them home at the end of the summer. Great for us, great for them. They've seen 42 States. We let them choose what they'd like to see/do when they arrive. One year they wanted to swim in all the Great Lakes so we did the circle tour. Recommend this. Hard to go wrong with many suggestions, but a couple of interesting things to do:
Silver Lake, Michigan, north of Muskegon has sand dunes on Lake Michigan and is a popular off road area. You can rent a Jeep and go on the dunes. Solo or with a guided group. We did this and it was a blast.
A little out of the way is the shipwreck museum near Whitefish Point in the U.P. I'm not a boat person, but I found it really interesting.
On the way back down in Wisconsin you can skip Chicago by taking a ferry across Lake Michigan. I don't know if they can handle your rig and it would be expensive, but you'll probably never forget the ride.

We spent almost a week in the Sleeping Bear Dunes area last fall. That's a great base to use for exploring the area.

I think it is Sandy shores Campground (Google campgrounds Mears Michigan) say Hi to Hank for me (he's a camp host).

Ask him nicely and you can talk to me, and several others, long about 945 AM most days

Cut over to M-22 if you're headed North along 31, since 31 goes inland for about 30 miles. It's a nice winding road that hugs the lakeshore and eventually goes right to Sleeping Bear ... Take M-22 all the way to Northport and then keep going to the tip of the peninsula if you have time. Maybe park your rig at a campground near sleeping bear and take the bike.

Any trip up the West Coast of Michigan will be well worth it. Michigan does New England better than "New England". Towns like Saugatuck, Petosky is amazing, Grand Haven, Muskegon, Ludington, etc. along Rt. 31 are not to be missed. Take time to cut over to Traverse City. Beautiful! From TC you would visit the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore. From there, a day trip up I believe Rt. 22 all the way to Northport. The towns along the lakeshore are again better than New England, and the folks are mid-Western friendly. Enjoy your trip.
