The above routs are fine but after the Ohio Turnpike tolls the PA Turnpike tolls add insult to injury. We run I-76 to Warrendale, PA, I-79 to Morgantown, WV, I-68 to Hagarstown, MD, I-81 to Chambersburg, PA then US-30 to Gettysburg, PA.
All toll roads just about anywhere but especially in the east, have raised tolls to ridiculous levels for RV's. Google them up and your vehicle class and you'll see what we're talking about. The PA Turnpike has gotten to past stupid, especially considering the road condition and it's age, but you're trading tolls for gas so you need to figure the run both ways. We run to Alaska every two years from Delaware through the Michigan UP and I try to keep the states from balancing their budgets on my back. I-68 has a number of nice Maryland State Parks along it, but we boondock in Ohio, so I don't know how easy they are to access.
