The I-10 tunnel at Mobile is 16'. You do not want to get off of the Interstate in the Mobile area anyway. Navigation is not intuitive, as in many riverfront cities. (The Battleship Alabama Memorial Park is a possible exception to this rule. If you have never seen a battleship up close you really should. Impressive.)
By the way, Alabama DOT requires that LP be shut off at the tank in the tunnel, but I've never seen anybody check.
ON EDIT: As you approach New Orleans take I-12 around the North side of the lake. No reason to go through the city. Some of those drivers are not real tightly wrapped. We go over to N.O. for a week each December for our anniversary and I avoid the in-town portion of I-10 any way I can. I do, however, know my way around the city on surface streets.
