Going to be driving east through Houston in a couple days and looking for recommendations on routes. I'll be coming down Hwy 290 and don't have a EZ Tag. Does the Sam Houston Tollway read your licen...

Just traveled 290 yesterday. They are working on 290 pretty much continuously, but lane closures are mostly between 9:00 pm - 5:00 am and at various times on weekends. As some have said travel thru Houston between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm and you should have no trouble except if there is a major wreck then all bets are off. If you have a smartphone or tablet you could go to the Houston Transtar website and find real time road closures, accidents, etc.
