Traveling through Las Vegas

Coming from Reno two rigs, 25 ft Mh towing and a 35 ft 5 the wheel. Heading to Boulder City. Probably Friday. Suggested route through. Thanks

  • Would it be best to take 95s to 15 N and then exit to 147 or take 215 around and then 15 S to 147?
  • From Reno take US 95 to 215 the western beltway around Las Vegas and then on to Boulder City. Time of day is very important for the amount of traffic congestion in Vegas.

If you have never driven thru Lake Mead Recreation area it is a two lane road that has very little traffic on it and the scenery cannot be beat. In NLV Pick up (147) Lake Mead Bl to Northshore Drive to Lakeshore Drive to Boulder City. You may want to Google map the route.
This route will avoid the traffic on the 93/95/515 thru LV.

  • Exit 54...isn't that a Petro truck stop? We use it also...much better than Pilot/Flying J down the road.

I-15 south to I-515. I-515 to Boulder Hwy. Quite a bit of traffic. Avoiding the rush hours helps but it never seems to work out that way for me. There is no real easy way through Vegas. I usually fuel up at the truck stop near exit 54 (near the race track) on the way in so I can walk around a bit before hitting heavy traffic.

BTW: Just behind the truck stop there is a large dirt area where you can pull off. I've never seen more than a couple of trucks in there at any one time.
  • We are 60 miles N of Reno and smoke is so thick sun is blood red and visibility is low. Hard to breath.
  • Fire up your traffic app, and don't go in the afternoon.
