This skips Las Vegas completely and both highway 167 and 169 are good roads.

As per google maps the route through Las Vegas is 222 miles and 3hr 24 minutes.

The route using highway 167 and 169 is 219 miles and 3hr 46 minutes.

The distance and times are from Kingman to St George.
