We took the Caravanas de Mexico caravan this last winter.
I can recommend it for 1st-time RVing in Mexico. (I've traveled to and in Mexico in the past, but by air and bus.)
In addition to the previously listed advantages one gets the wisdom of some very knowledgeable people.
Like what highways and areas to avoid.
Or where to get prescription meds that are over the counter.
Or where to get that needed crown work done.
You know, stuff that the caravans don't advertise, but is known by the people leading them.
And be sure that you know what a left hand turn signal means.
Watch out for the topes.
Breakdown and you've got to have resources.
One last item:
We had some wild parties. . .just a spontaneous thing that happens.
The social aspect can be a big part of it. You risk being around someone that might rub you the wrong way. Or you may make new friends for life.
You won't know 'till you go.
