Get a piece of cardboard, sized to cover the rad. Slip it in between the rad and the grille when you notice your heater not keeping the cab warm. Keep an eye on the engine temps, and the exterior temps. Remove as needed.
That's some janky stuff but I like it! I will probably do that.
