Thanks for your info and comments. Last year, my inaugural trip was to Alaska. Left in the middle of May and returned at the end of October. 16k miles and 143 nights. Something I could never have done on a two week vacation. LOVE my retirement.
My answer to your questions as to how long? As long as it takes.... The Gettysburg Rally is my only cast in stone dates. I'm very flexible after that. I'll make reservations one or two days in advance, unless you suggest some areas require advance reservations, like Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone last year, I can shoot for target dates. So far, if I'm having a good time, I can spend more than a couple days, etc.
