the rain forest is the west side of the park. the clouds coming in off the pacific must dump their water before they can rise over the mountains. but most of the storms split and either go north of or south of the park, then converge again in the Puget Sound.
But that is not what a rain forest is, a rain forest is created by the Fog off the ocean condensing on the trees as it drifts thru. that's why we say Forks will get a half inch of rain on a clear day, because all a rain forest requires to make rain is fog and a little wind.
The visitor center will have the scoop on all the camp grounds in the area. they stay full during the summer tourist season. so make reservations, they will book full most months.
