Trip to Quebec

July is high season in Quebec especially Montreal and Quebec City. The only advice I can give is to make sure you have reservations at whatever RV Park you select near Montreal or Quebec City. You will absolutely love Montreal and even better Quebec City.

We went a few years ago in July. We could not find a site or even a hotel room, except one at $450. We ended up driving through to New Brunswick after one night in hotel.

I concur about reservations... it's a must. It has been several years since I went there, but it's an amazing area and the architecture & culture is truly special. Personally I'd go the scenic route, if I were you.

There are 4 RV parks just off of Autoroute 15 which is I-87 in US. The exit is Montee Monette. They are about 20 miles from center of Montreal. We generally use the Metro to go into the city as parking is difficult. There is Camping St Andre where we stay (no pets), Camping Amerique right across the road, KOA right on Montee Monette, Bonaire and Cle de Champs nearby.
A couple of these are Passport America Parks.
There is also Camping Alouette on autoroute 20 which is a bit more expensive and not as convenient to get into the city.

This is a great area for bicycling if you enjoy that. Many dedicated bike paths as well as Costco just up the road.

Two summers ago we visited Old Quebec City during July. Stayed at the KOA just outside (southwest) of the city. Enjoyed both the KOA (shuttle bus right from the park into Old Quebec) and touring the Old City itself. For a treat we booked a horse-drawn carriage tour -THAT was great! You will have a great time! Take time to visit the Ile d'Orleans - fun time touring around, especially vineyards and the chocolatier! ST

Wonderful information. Thanks to all. We have reservations at Camping Alouette for our Montreal visit. I did make a reservation online with Camping de la Joie. The website does not appear to have a version in English, so, using an online translator, I did the best I could. That was two months ago and not heard anything yet, but discovered they are closed until May 15. I'm learning French so it should be good practice. If that fails, KOA would be my fallback. The only problem with KOAs is they seemed to be situated too close to an interstate and the inherent noise.

From what I recall there is very little highway noise at the Quebec KOA. The camping area is far enough away and down a bit of a berm so it was hardly noticeable the two or three times we stayed there.

We stayed across the river in Levis, drove to ferry terminal, ferry dropped you off right in old Quebec City. Would love to go back again.

Alouette has much more road noise than KOA as it is right on Autoroute 20 which has a lot more traffic than Autoroute 15 and KOA is 2 miles from the Hwy.

Alouette has a website that is in English as well as a toll free # from the USA and everyone in the office speaks English.

Traffic into the city is much lighter from the area of the KOA as well and never has the kind of traffic jams experienced on the 20.
How do I know this??? About 20 Summers in the area with several at Aloette and a lot more at Camping St Andre.

Another thing all the others are less expensive.
