Trip to Quebec

My wife and I are planning to visit Montreal and Quebec City this July. Any traveling tips or tips on RV parks there? We're towing a 30' TT. We are also undecided whether or not to take the scenic route 132 around the Mont Chic Chocs or visit the Finger Lakes in New York instead. Any info on that region would be most welcome.

  • Two summers ago we visited Old Quebec City during July. Stayed at the KOA just outside (southwest) of the city. Enjoyed both the KOA (shuttle bus right from the park into Old Quebec) and touring the Old City itself. For a treat we booked a horse-drawn carriage tour -THAT was great! You will have a great time! Take time to visit the Ile d'Orleans - fun time touring around, especially vineyards and the chocolatier! ST
  • There are 4 RV parks just off of Autoroute 15 which is I-87 in US. The exit is Montee Monette. They are about 20 miles from center of Montreal. We generally use the Metro to go into the city as parking is difficult. There is Camping St Andre where we stay (no pets), Camping Amerique right across the road, KOA right on Montee Monette, Bonaire and Cle de Champs nearby.
A couple of these are Passport America Parks.
There is also Camping Alouette on autoroute 20 which is a bit more expensive and not as convenient to get into the city.
If you want any more info let me know.
This is a great area for bicycling if you enjoy that. Many dedicated bike paths as well as Costco just up the road.

  • I concur about reservations... it's a must. It has been several years since I went there, but it's an amazing area and the architecture & culture is truly special. Personally I'd go the scenic route, if I were you.
  • Yes do reserve..Now!!!!

We went a few years ago in July. We could not find a site or even a hotel room, except one at $450. We ended up driving through to New Brunswick after one night in hotel.

It is a beautiful place, especially Old Quebec City
  • July is high season in Quebec especially Montreal and Quebec City. The only advice I can give is to make sure you have reservations at whatever RV Park you select near Montreal or Quebec City. You will absolutely love Montreal and even better Quebec City.
